Haere Mai / Welcome
Tonu to tatou pai / Always our Best
Kia ora, Ni hao and Kamusta,
Welcome to Hauroko Valley Primary School.
I am incredibly privileged to be the Principal of this stunning school. We are a U2 Full Primary catering for students in Years 1-8.
We are located 10 minutes North of Tuatapere on the Southern Scenic Route along Highway 99.
Hauroko Valley is a community-focused school with strong links with our school whanau and the wider community. Most of our students come from farming families within the Clifden, Orawia, Lillburn Valley, Motu, Eastern Bush, Feldwick, and Blackmount Districts within Western Southland.
Our school community is incredibly active and committed to providing our students with learning provocations throughout our school curriculum. Our strong working partnership between home and school supports us in ensuring our children are motivated learners striving for excellence as our motto - "tonu to tatou pai / always our best". These strong relationships provide opportunities for our students throughout the curriculum.
We have an amazing group of kaiako who are dedicated to providing authentic and engaging learning environments and opportunities for all children to achieve.
Our team of teachers is supported by skilled support staff who work alongside our children to guide personalized learning journeys, as well as innovative support programmes.
As a school, we are proud of our location and history and utilize our rural setting; including Lake Hauroko and the Clifden Historical Suspension Bridge
as symbols for our learning and ways of thinking.
Hauroko (howling of the wind) Valley Primary School is a special place.
Come and join us!
Nga mihi nui,
Julia Waikato
